Business Class Flights to Milan, Italy

The second-largest city in Italy after Rome, Milan has a population of about 1.4 million people. The city’s suburbs and surrounding metro area are home to more than 8.2 million people, making it one of the most densely populated regions in Europe. Milan is located in the northern part of the country in the Lombardy region, near Italy’s border with Switzerland. 

 

The history of Milan dates back to 600 BCE when a settlement was established by the ancient celts in the spot where the modern city now stands. Today, Milan is Italy’s financial hub. The city is home to the corporate offices of many of Italy’s insurance companies, banks, and financial firms, as well as the offices of many international banks, making the city a popular destination for business travelers.

 

Business class flights to Milan arrive at one of three international airports that serve the city and its surrounding area. The majority of international travelers who fly to Milan arrive at Milan Malpensa International Airport (MXP), which is located about 30 miles northwest of the city. Milan Malpensa International Airport is the largest airport in northern Italy, serving more than 21 million passengers each year. It is the second-busiest airport in the country after Fiumicino International Airport in Rome, and is a hub for Malta Air, Ryanair, and Wizz Air.

 

Some of the travelers who book flights to Milan arrive at Milan Linate International Airport (LIN). Milan Linate International Airport is located just four miles from Milan’s city center in the suburbs of Segrate and Peschiera Borromeo. It serves nearly 1 million passengers per year, and is a hub for ITA Airways.

 

Other business class and first class flights to Milan arrive at Orio al Serio International Airport (BGY), which is located about 28 miles northeast of Milan. Orio al Serio International Airport is Italy’s third busiest airport after Milan Malpensa International Airport and Fiumicino International Airport in Rome. Orio al Serio International Airport serves more than 13 million passengers each year and is a hub for Ryanair and Aero Italia airlines.

 

Milan is also home to several media companies. These include newspaper offices, television networks, and publishing companies that produce magazines, books, and other types of media.

 

Most recently, Milan has also become a home for several information technology companies. These include the Italian offices of international corporations such as Google, Microsoft, Lycos, and Yahoo, as well as smaller Italian IT companies and local startups. 

 

Many of the travelers who fly first class to Milan work in the fashion industry. The city is famous for being one of the world’s most prominent fashion capitals along with Paris and New York City. Milan is home to high-end fashion design firms such as Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Luxottica, Prada, Versace, Valentino, and Zegna, in addition to hundreds of smaller companies. In addition to clothing and accessories, Milan is also known as a center for the design of furniture and other household items.

 

Tourism is also an important part of Milan’s overall economy. Nearly 9 million tourists fly to Milan each year to visit the city’s museums and historic sites. Among Milan’s most famous attractions is Leonardo da Vinci’s 15th century fresco painting The Last Supper, which is located inside the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

 

Other famous artists also spent time in Milan, including Caravaggio and Francesco Hayez during the Baroque period in the 17th century. Several of their paintings are housed at Milan’s Pinacoteca di Brera museum.

 

Milan is also famous for its performing arts, most notably opera. Milan’s opera house, La Scala, built in the late 18th century, is one of the world’s most-famous opera venues.

 

Notable people who are from or who once living in Milan include classical conductor and musician Claudio Abbado; fashion designer Giorgio Armani; Augustine of Hippo, also known as Saint Augustine; painter Michelangelo Merisi Caravaggio; Roman Catholic Pope Paul VI; and classical music composer Giuseppe Verdi.
