Business Class Flights to Dubrovnik, Croatia

Located in the southern part of Croatia on the Adriatic Sea coast, Dubrovnik is a popular tourist destination and only grows in visitors each year. The city’s history dates back to the 7th century, when it was founded by the ancient Greeks. Back then, it was known as Ragusa and is believed to have been founded by refugees from another colony known as Epidaurus. Dubrovnik is known for the well-preserved medieval architecture in its historic city center, as well as for its historic and scenic port. The city was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 and has been consistently included on the list of the 25 Most Beautiful Cities in the World by Travel + Leisure magazine.

Tourists who take flights to Dubrovnik, Croatia, arrive at Dubrovnik International Airport (DBV), which is sometimes called Cilipi Airport by locals. The airport is located about 10 miles from Dubrovnik’s city center in the suburb of Cilipi. It is the third-busiest airport in Croatia after the airports in Zagreb and Split.

Flights to Dubrovnik International Airport are available from most large European cities as well as from some large cities in North America. Flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Dubrovnik and New York City (NYC) to Dubrovnik are not usually difficult to find and fly relatively frequently as tourists make their way to one of the world’s most beautiful seaside destinations.

Because the city has a mild Mediterranean climate, visitors book flights to Dubrovnik year-round. Tourists who are looking for cheap flights to Dubrovnik will want to travel during the winter months or during the shoulder seasons, early spring and late fall, when fewer people are visiting the city. Rates are lower during this time, and with fewer visitors, it could mean a more relaxing stay for those looking to avoid busy seasons.

Among Dubrovnik’s most notable historic sites are its fortified medieval walls, which circle the old city and are more than a mile long. The walls are up to 20 feet thick in places and include a series of watchtowers where guards were able to look out to sea and watch for invading ships. The medieval walls attract more than a million visitors each year and have served as a filming location for several movies including Star Wars: The Last Jedi; the 2018 version of Robin Hood; and the HBO television series Game of Thrones. For tourists who have seen these pop culture icons, a flight to Dubrovnik offers the opportunity to revisit favorite scenes.

Other notable historic sites in the city include the Arboretum Trsteno. Built in 1492, it is the oldest arboretum in the world. The Gothic-style Church of Saint Blaise, built in the 17th century, is dedicated to Dubrovnik’s patron saint and is among the most visited places in the city; and the Franciscan Church and Monastery complex, which includes a church, library, pharmacy, and bell tower, was built in the 13th century and is located near the old city.

Although more than a million tourists visit Dubrovnik each year, the permanent population of the city is just 43,000 people. Tourism is the city’s most important industry, with much of its population working in the hospitality industry in some capacity. Other important contributors to the region’s economy include shipping and logistics; agriculture and wine production; and manufacturing.
