Starting in 2018, with the recent demand that Singapore Airlines has had, Airbus has revealed it plans to develop an ultra long-range variant of A350-900, which is one of its Airbuses, which will do non-stop flights from Singapore to New York. With both Boeing and Airbus, Singapore Airlines have been in talks with them, in plans to acquire the aircraft, but Airbus come out before Boeing to reveal its plans on the same. It is however interesting how other airlines have now become interested with the same- a statement from Kiran Rao, the Airbus strategy and marketing, vice president.

Mr Kiran did suggest that the A350 revised version will carry a lot less passengers, he said that he could not go into any more details of what they are after, but the service would definitely be premium.

The Singapore Airlines used older airbuses those of A340s for direct flights to New York and Los Angeles, but they abandoned them on 2013. They actually want a bit more range, i.e. direct flights to the US starting with that to the New York City.

During an annual conference call held by airlines CEO's in Warsaw, Mr. Goh Choon Phong, the Singapore Airlines CEO, said that: they are going to need aircrafts which will be majorly based on the new technology.

Mr. Goh insisted that the aircraft didn't have to be exactly new however. He said that it could be any current design, but it was all up to Airbus. This would mean that the aircraft would be an ER version of either Boeing X777 or A350 an Airbus, with enough fuel tanks. The CEO went ahead and insisted that he was going to let the decision come from both Boeing and Airbus, especially when it comes to decisions to be made in term of the new technology. All Mr. Goh wants is a strong aircraft that would be able to serve the airline well. He has already settled most issues with the board and he says he is awaiting a final response.

The current Singapore Airlines flights include: LA and San Francisco through Hong Kong, Tokyo and Seoul, NY via Frankfurt, among others. Mr. Goh also said that he was looking for a better business class model to offers more deals throughout their many different connections. This was in comparison with the A340 Airbus, which they used ran NY and LAX. Singapore Airlines finally did offload the A340s they had, with an aim of getting the A350s modernized. They are actually ready to let the first one take off in Jan 2016 in the SQ stripe.

So, if you're looking to make a trip to Singapore in the near future just know that Mr. Goh, and the rest of the airlines are doing what they can to bring you some business class deals as they continue to expand their fleet and make their connections more efficient. All the while, we're also here to help you find the best business class deals possible.
