Introducing The new Club World Business Class Seats From British Airways

British Airways' new design for its business class seats could literally provide its Club World seats with a new slant, with layouts for the Boeing 787, Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 being mentioned in the documentation. The design was revealed in a US Patent and Trademark Office application that was filed this past February, 2015. It shows an angled business class design, with seats arranged in four-across and three-across layouts so that every passenger enjoys unimpeded and direct access to the aisle.

There is no alternating forward and backward pattern, unlike the current British Airway Club World business class seats. There is also no close quarters pairing of the seats. Instead, every seat is angled similar to the fishbone pattern seen in Virgin Atlantic and Air New Zealand's international business class cabins, in addition to Cathay Pacific's controversial and older cubicle class, which has since been abandoned.

One thing that is especially noteworthy is that the concept comes from Tangerine, a UK-based design house, which created the current Club World seats originally in 2000 and then the refresh in 2013 for the Airbus A380 and Boeing 787. On the U.S. patent application Martin Darbyshire, CEO of Tangerine, is listed as the inventor. This adds credibility to the design being a serious contender as the next-generation Club World for British Airways.

The seats convert into a 1.9 metre flat bed by having the rear part of the seat flip over so that it forms part of the bed, or by fully reclining. Into each shell, there is a built-in large flat-screen monitor.

The British Airways patent application for the Boeing 787 suggests a three-across arrangement, and a four-across layout for the Airbus A380 lower deck or Boeing 777.

The Club World Suite From British Airways

British Airways has several different design patents it is sitting on for future business class seats. It includes a radical concept coming from the PriestmanGoode where the seat resembles an over sized sofa or couch. It could accommodate passengers in various different positions, like forward facing on take-off, taxi and landing stages on a flight. In addition, a laptop-friendly working mode is included, with an extended tray table and the passenger being able to swivel a bit on the sofa. For eating, there is a similar mode.

The sofa's infill section would swing up, creating a continuous surface in between the ottoman and seat so you could stretch out while watching a movie or grab a little shut-eye. Whatever the case or the design may be, it goes withotu saying that if you'd like to experience one of these business class seats for yourself you probably want to get the best deal you can find. That's where we come in. Our agents are standing by WAITING to help you find the best deal possible.
